Pick the record for the people decision

Schedules assign people to dates, shifts, roles, and locations. Labor forecasts estimate coverage needs before assignments are made. Timesheets and attendance trackers record completed time, while onboarding, training, certification, and performance records follow different stages of team readiness. Event calendars, room blocks, and banquet schedules coordinate time-bound functions rather than routine department coverage.

Prepare roles, rules, and availability

Define departments, role names, shift boundaries, required coverage, availability, break rules, approval owners, and the period being planned. If cost planning is involved, document the pay assumptions used in the working copy. Review outputs against applicable wage, overtime, scheduling, privacy, and recordkeeping requirements; a workbook is not a payroll system or the legal system of record.

Link labor to the relevant operation

Food-and-beverage stock and costing belong in Dining; room turns and maintenance tasks belong in Housekeeping; and labor budgets or profitability analysis belong in Revenue. Browse the full workbook library to see the staffing documents that are currently live.
